I must be a mermaid

I started this page in my collage journal a few days ago and only today found the perfect quote for it. I've been struggling to create lately so finally finishing this spread is quite a relief. Although, I do wish the 'mermaid' wasn't quite so dark. I need to get my hands on a grey big brush pen I think.

Materials: Moleskine sketchbook, acrylic paint, tissue paper, Tim Holtz tissue tape, Studio Calico hexagon mask, punchinella, book text, Faber Castell big brush pen, Stazon stone gray ink, rubber stamps.

Happy arting.

Collage Monday: Breathe

Yep, collage Monday on Tuesday lol Better late than never...right? This week I've got a simple yet fun spread to share with you.

I prepped my page by collaging vintage dictionary pages (Italian, no less!) and then a scraping of gesso. I then added some Windsor & Newton watercolours, punchinella'd paint and acrylic ink and voila - happy place!

Til next time, happy arting!

Collage Monday: Play

So, clearly I forgot to post this yesterday, but better late than never, right?

I had a lot if fun with this spread using crumpled brown paper, tags, book text and a paper doily. I topped it all off with some washi tape and a bit of vintage photo distress ink and this is definitely a happy place! Just need to add some journaling to the tag and it's done!

Have you created anything lately? I'd love to see!

Happy arting,

collage monday

Welcome to my first entry for collage Monday! My favourite mixed media artist, Donna Downey, has been doing weekly collage inspired posts that I absolutely love and it’s got me itching to give it a go. She invited people to play along and start a collage journal too and, well, no need to ask me twice!

I’m using collage Mondays as a chance to scale things back a little bit – to create with less supplies. I’ve taken a leaf out of Donna’s book, and have chosen a Moleskine Sketchbook for this little challenge, and  I love it. The pages are a great quality, and I really love the elastic closure – what a great idea! I’m really looking forward to see it filled and full of collagey goodness.
As for other supplies, it’s all about keeping it simple. I really want this to be something that I can create with while on the go – just my journal, glue and a handful of goodies. Should be a test to see if I can actually stick with that!

Anyway, enough jabbering away – wanna see my first spread?

Supplies: vintage book text, vintage flashcards, inventory envelope, Kaisercraft alpha stickers, Presstik alpha stickers, Pink Paislee Daily Junque stamps, Crate Paper ‘Random’ papers, October Afternoon ‘Farmhouse Flower Sack’ ephemera

This was done while visiting my good friend Karen, using goodies that I’d bought that day whilst we were out shopping. It still doesn’t quite feel finished to me – it just feels like it needs something else, but maybe that’s just because I’m used to using so much MORE lol Regardless, I’m happy with my first entry.

If you decide to take on the Collage Monday challenge, I’d love to see your creations, so be sure to link me up!

Happy arting,
