Video: Behind The Art – Imperfect

I have another peek behind the art journalling scenes for you today, but first I have some news to share!

litabells-NASTORE

That’s right, my digi design business now has a new home – Scrap Orchard! The orchard was the first digi scrap site I ever joined, and to now be selling there is just a dream come true. And to top it off, not only will you be able to find my digi scrap designs there, you’ll soon be able to take part in online mixed media workshops – taught by me! I am beyond thrilled at the chance to do this so stay tuned for details of my first class, coming soon!

But for now, enjoy a peek behind the scenes as I create my page for this weeks Art Squared prompt.

PLEASE NOTE
The audioswap feature has gone a little haywire – there’s meant to be some boppy fun music but all I’m hearing is the noise of me creating. Sorry guys!

I should mention also, that after I had turned off the camera, I took a minute or so to rub away more of the glue design. This worked as a super easy resist technique, so when the glue was rubbed away, I was left with great grungey circles. Love how it worked out!

I’m off to the studio now to get messy and covered in paint. Hope you have fun and get a little creative yourself!

Happy arting!

Art Journal–Everyday Dust

MD-Dust

This was my first play with modelling paste and it is so fun! Seriously messy, but a lot of fun. I coloured it with Liquitex Acrylic Ink and then applied it with a stencil from Crafters Workshop.

Art Journalling–Be Free

MB-BeFree

Just a quick simple page to share today. I’ve got quite a few pages that I’ve yet to share, so figured I’d blog one today! This particular page is the result of challenging myself to use only the supplies currently in my bedroom, instead of going out to my art studio lol

Daily Junque Journal

So, as I mentioned yesterday, here I am, back with a little looky at my junque journal. My whole reasoning behind this journal, is to document the minutiae of everyday life. I saw Ali Edwards’ ‘Week In The Life’ challenge and wanted to do it, but realised that I don’t actually do a whole lot, so would have nothing to document. That got me to thinking that my life is fast becoming just habit, just daily routine. SO I challenged myself to step outside my comfort zone, try new things and just live more! And, being a scrapper at heart, of course I needed to journal it all lol

I just love this little journal! It’s packed full of found papers, ephemera, and just random odds and ends. I love it so much that I have already ordered another, custom made to suit my style! Can’t wait to get it. If you like what you see, be sure to pop over to Cave In The Clouds and snag one of these amazing journals for yourself! They are really affordable and super cute! Be sure to tell Hannah that Litabells sent you!

Daily1

This first page uses vintage sheet music, deco tape, ephemera and packaging from Pink Paislee Daily Junque Ephemera pack – it was too perfect not to use!

Daily2a

I intend to write why I am doing this journal on the right hand side, but I just haven’t gotten there yet lol

Daily2

Snippets of life – packaging from my hair dye, a small booklet given to me by a man that I let go ahead of me at a checkout, and just a note on what happened that day. All of the pages in the journal will be this random, junquey style.

So there you have it! There are of course many more pages than you are seeing here, but this is already a very image heavy post lol Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to take a second to say hello – I love hearing from you!

Art on the go

Yesterday I shared a little look at my travel art kit, and have had quite a few questions about it since, so I thought I’d take the time to share it properly.

At the moment, I’m working on a number of projects, but am carrying only one with me, which is just a little daily journal, full of the minutiae of everyday life. So my art kit is currently geared towards that project, but can be tweaked to suit whatever I’m working on.

Supplies1

Here I have:
Watercolour crayons
Baby wipes – to blend the crayons, and for clean ups
Paint dabbers – I carry either some of these or the crayons, not both at once
Paper supplies (details in seperate pic)
Journal
Make-up bag of pens etc (more detail in next pic)
Package of nappy bags – great little trash bags for art on the go!

Supplies2

This photo shows the contents of the make-up bag which, incidentally, I had made to order by Something From Rebecca.
Cutterbee Scissors
Glue stick
Stencil
Charcoal pencil
Faber Castell big brush pen (india ink)
Pilot Permaball pen
Pilot Choose white pen
Sakura Gelly pen
Bic 4 colour pen – coz I like the funky colours lol
Eraser
Lead pencil
Mini stapler
Deco tapes
Paper clips
Mini mister
I also usually have my aquash pen, but have no clue where it is at the moment. Probably rattling around my handbag somewhere!

Supplies3

And this pic gives a little look at the contents of my plastic envelopes. I just have a random selection of paper scraps, stickers and ephemera pieces. My journal is an eclectic mix of goodies – I think the style suits the randomness of every day life lol

So there you have it, my art on the go kit! I take this everywhere and use it in all manner of places – in the car while waiting to pick Haylee up from school, whilst having lunch out, at the local library, or the park, if I just feel like getting out and about. Heck, I even used it at Micky D’s recently while the kids had fun on the playground!

I’ll be back tomorrow to give you a peek inside the journal. It’s a sweet little handmade journal from Cave In The Clouds, made with a fabric cover and ‘found’ papers. I love it! So be sure to pop back tomorrow to take a looksee inside!

Happy crafting!

What’s on your workdesk?

Ok, so I kinda failed on the regular WOYWW posts, but I’m jumping back in this week. Except….I’m not at my desk lol My kids are home sick today, so instead of working at my desk I’m playing on the couch with my little travel art kit. Here’s a little look at my couch ‘workspace’ and one of my many current projects.
